OUR STORY

The first generation of our practice was founded in 1996 as Berlin Veterinary Clinic by Dr. Steven Carey, DVM. Dr. Megan Rumpke, DVM joined Dr. Carey's practice in May, 2018. In September of 2018, Dr. Nicolas Drolet, DVM and Dr. Rumpke purchased Berlin Veterinary Clinic, which then became Montpelier Veterinary Hospital.  Dr. Carey and Dr. Rumpke worked together through January, 2018 until Dr. Cary entered retirement. Dr. Drolet joined the practice full time soon after.

Dr. Drolet is a native Vermonter who followed his great-grandfather and grandfather into the profession of veterinary medicine. At one time, his grandfather was the state veterinarian of Vermont. The acquisition of Montpelier Veterinary has fulfilled his lifelong dream of practice ownership. Dr. Rumpke joined Dr. Drolet in Vermont in 2017 after growing up in the Midwest and practicing for a few years in Texas. The two met in veterinary school and married in spring of 2021.

Although the next chapter of the practice is just beginning, Montpelier Veterinary will continue the legacy Dr. Carey left behind by providing quality medical and surgical services with a genuine approach. Our biggest strength is our team. Our technical team is here to make our families feel at home and strives to make every experience great.

Our doctors consult and collaborate on most cases and will frequently work together on emergent after hours and hospitalized cases. They graduated within the past 5 years and offer the most updated information and state of the art knowledge. They acquired this practice to be able to get to know their patients and take pride in the fact that the puppies they meet now will have the same doctors caring for them for the entirety of their lives. We are honest, compassionate, caring, and strive for excellence.
